Letter to Benjamin Watkins Leigh [manuscript], 1813 September 25.

Randolph alludes to the flooding of a river and consequent damage to crops. He also reports that he has read Henry Woodfall's edition of Junius, professes admiration for the unknown author [Sir Philip Francis], and hopes that he will remain unknown. Randolph considers writing a similar anonymous commentary on American politics.

Benjamin Watkins Leigh (1781-1849), a native of Chesterfield County, Virginia, was educated at William and Mary College, and practiced law in Petersburg and Richmond, Virginia. He was a member of the House of Delegates, supervised the revision of the Virginia Code in 1819, was a member of the 1829-30, Constitutional convention, and U.S. Senator.
